Alright, there is obviously a ton of speculation going around about why Sarah Palin would resign from the governorship of Alaska. But I have a question for anyone who read the statement Palin made when she said “I know when it is time to pass the baton of victory.“ What does she mean by that?
Also, what do you think she meant when she said “I thought about, well, how much fun some Governors have as ‘lame ducks’“?
Please let me know your thoughts. Let’s have some fun speculating! Maybe we can come up with a certain conclusion:-)
Oh, and could this statement in any way mean she is passing the baton of victory to Mitt Romney, being that he is the most fluent on economic matters, etc, etc,? Or does she mean simply passing the ball to the Lieutenant Governor so Alaska can keep their eye on the ball?
“I use (sports) because you are naive if you don’t see a full-court press from the national level picking away right now,” Palin said. “A good point guard, here’s what she does: she drives through a full-court press, protecting the ball, keeping her head up because she needs to keep her eye on the basket, and she knows exactly when to pass the ball so that the team can win.
“And that is what I’m doing. Keeping our eye on the ball. It represents sound priorities — remember, they include energy independences, our government and national security, freedom, and I know when it is time to pass the ball for victory.”

Those that you stated are the only conclusions anyone can draw from her weird speech and her “unorthadox” manner in quitting. Look at the latest post I did on the Rasmussen poll conducted yesterday and you’ll see her approval ratings dropped exponentially.
By the way Uncle Ron, did you read Anna-Marie’s dad’s post on the Peril’s of the Defense cuts and Robert Gates? Let me know what you think.

This is a case of someone who is either clueless on how to run her term of office faithfully, a cop out because there is something looming in her background that could prove fatal politically to her and her future, but either way a very bad move and demonstrates her ability to not follow through.

Well! gov Sarah Palin is a great gov and intelligent, but she is not a international leader, she still too young, not strong enough to fight with Obama. she need more experience and more power, so 2016 or 2020 will be her term.the public look OK,, but when face to face who the stronger that person is the winner. only Mitt is the stronger, smarter, more experience can defeat Obama 2012.

I’m with you JD! I hope it means getting behind a single candidate who has the best strength to fight Obama. If so, my respect for her will deepen as she had the vision to see this and act early. Let’s pray this is the case.

I really enjoy your analysis and am also curious as to meaning behind the “passing the ball for victory” line. I hope it holds true that she sees Romney as the most accomplished and natural fit for the future of the party. If so, this is the kind of speculation I can get behind.
