Fox’s Glenn Beck Said “President Obama is a Racist” – Is That Right?

I’d sure hate to be the one receiving Glenn’s mail!

This is exactly what many people knew the outcome would be as a result of Obama’s bias judgment.  It appears to me that Obama’s divisive comments come at a time when racial unity is needed the most.  Glenn Beck is obviously one to speak his mind, but if I were in his position of influence, I don’t know if I’d take it this far.

Here’s the story from AP:

By David Bauder

TV-Beck-ObamaNEW YORK – Fox News Channel commentator Glenn Beck said he believes President Barack Obama is a racist.

Beck made the statement during a guest appearance Tuesday on the “Fox&Friends” morning show. He said Obama has exposed himself as a person with “a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture.”

His remarks came during a discussion of Obama’s reaction to the arrest of Harvard University scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. Gates is black and was arrested for disorderly conduct by a white policeman over a misunderstanding about a break-in at Gates’ home.

An Obama spokesman, William Burton, said the White House had no comment on Beck.

Beck’s statement was challenged on the air by Fox host Brian Kilmeade, who noted that most of the people who work for the nation’s first black president are white.

“I’m not saying he doesn’t like white people,” Beck said. “He has a problem. This guy is, I believe, a racist.”

Beck wondered, during the discussion, what other president would immediately jump on the police for their actions in the case. Obama said in a news conference that he believed the police acted stupidly in the case, but later backtracked from the statement and invited Gates and the police officer, Sgt. James Crowley, to the White House for a conciliatory meeting later this week.

Bill Shine, Fox News senior vice president of programming, told the TVNewser Web site that Beck had “expressed a personal opinion which represented his own views, not those of the Fox News Channel. And as with all commentators in the cable news arena, he is given the freedom to express his opinions.”

Racial controversies are hardly new to presidents. In 2005, entertainer Kanye West said during a telethon after Hurricane Katrina that President George W. Bush “doesn’t care about black people.”

Beck, also a radio host and best-selling author, was an immediate hit with Fox News Channel viewers, starting in January when he made the jump from HLN (formerly CNN Headline News).

Beck didn’t speak about the racial comments on his own daily Fox show Tuesday.

What do you think, is Obama a racist, or does he just have bad judgement?

I absolutely believe Obama is a rascist, along with being a Socialist not always looks out for the best interests of America.

    Illinoisguy,

I agree. I think Obama does indeed have racial issues, but I don’t think it is productive for Glenn Beck to say “he is racist toward the white man.”
That is a reactive statement which only pours more flame on the racial fire which has erupted as a result of Obama’s comments.

He could have used a less divisive way of saying it.

I am not sure about the racial but Obama may be change America system to Kenya system and socialism, because he doesn’t want America know his goal of change,he never say change for what? just say, change we can believe in,but look his direction now won’t be the change America hope and is not the way America need.

Obama may be a racist. I don’t know. He certainly does seem to have a chip on his shoulder about racial issues, as do many of his friends and mentors. Yet, labeling him as a racist seems to go a bit far. It doesn’t help our country to use inflammatory language like that (just as it didn’t help us when Obama had a knee-jerk reaction to the cop’s motives). Thomas Sowell wrote about this issue and he basically comes to the same conclusion that Beck does, but he says it in a more civil manner here:

Thank you for that comment Claire. I agree. He could have found a “less inflammatory comment” to address his concerns. Glenn seems to have a hard time drawing boundaries for himself.

There’s no question in my mind that Obama is a racist, but I am questioning why everyone is acting so dang surprised that (1) someone finally said it, and (2) that Glenn Beck was the one who said it! Beck has proven that he is loyal to no political party or persons. He’s a champion of the people and I’m proud of the work he does regardless if it’s “against” republicans/conservatives or not!

How many more signs do we need that indicate our president has a serious issue with “white culture/white people in general” before we can simply call a spade a spade?

He certainly wouldn’t be the first president to sit in the Oval Office and embrace racist ideals! Just ask historians about Woodrow Wilson!

Ones that live in glass houses shouldn’t be yelling like Beck.
He seems that he’s close to being over the top like a nut.
